(Adventures In Myth) Gryphons war, book 1 Gone missing, chapter 14

CHAPTER 14 STAR-FIGHTER
Star-Fighter was worried sick for her younger brother, sure she wasn’t showing it, but she was. She already had Flow stuck in the Healers den, know if they lost Rock, who knew what would happen to him. “How do you know they went this way?!” Katana asked Flint from the ground, she wasn’t able to fly from a recent injury. “while you were fighting Opal, I couldn’t tell anyone but if you look closely, Diamond-destinies, especially dragonets- can’t only concentrate on there scales while there moving or running. So every now and then you see outlines of bodies” Flint explained, then she changed to a whisper “like over there…” She pointed to a shimmering outline. Flint was right,  they were going to get her brother back.
For the rest of the time no one talked, they just fallowed Flint. Star wondered what it was like for Rock, If they didn’t find him what would the dragon’s do with him? What did they do to all the other cubs? What did they need them for? And worse of all if something really bad happened to him, it would be her fault… Flint skidded to a stop and said “they disappeared…” “like actually disappeared?” Feather asked, Flint shamefully nodded, then gave Star a wounded look. “Flint, If it’s anyone’s fault its my own. I’m the one who made you two bait, I’m the one who made this plan.” Star kicked the nearest pebble, watching it plop into the water, “um, do we know which way is back to the village?” Feather said. Everyone was silent, “are we lost?!” Feather shrieked, then they heard hissing. They turned around but saw nothing, then they heard voices not two far away. “he’s awake!” said a voice, “I thought you knocked him out!” said another. It was the two dragonets, and they were still close by, “then knock him out again! Is that too much to ask for?” the male said. Then they heard a thunk, Star winced, but the female dragonet was hissing again. WHAP! The dragonet groaned, then there was silence, not even a rattle in the bushes. Star stepped forward, then again, and again, when she was next to a bush she looked back at her friends. They all nodded except for Feather, who was looking behind himself, Star peeked over the bush. There was nothing, no foot prints or anything, someone behind her winced. She zipped around, Flint gasped as Feather collapsed with something stuck in his neck, it was like a spike with some kind of blue liquid draining into his body. Star dashed over to Feather, he was still breathing, then Star realized what had happened. “It’s a Dart-Tail!” she gasped, but Katana had been hit too.  “Run!” she told Flint, then she felt a sharp pain, before her vision got foggy she saw Flint dash out of the clearing. A black Dart-Tail with green spikes fell from the trees and flew after her.
