CHAPTER 19 FLINT
It had been two days since Flint’s daring escape from the Dart-Tail, her and Rock was lucky enough to find the bunker. She had been trying to think of a plan that the dragons would never expect, she was going to bust those cubs out of… where ever they were being held. That was Flint’s main problem, she didn’t have the slightest idea where thay were. “Flint! Come here, quick!” River-Flow called from out side the bunker. Flint scurried out of the stuffy cave. Rock-Slinger was dragging a honey colored cub, “we don’t know what to do, or what happened!” Rock exclaimed. “Is that… who I think it is?...” Flint asked. “Yes…” Flow told her, “It’s Honey…”
“When will she wake up!!” Flint asked, she dragged her talon down her face in frustration. “She’ll wake up when-“ “she means she doesn’t know” Palm-Tail interrupted, “If only Feather was here” Rock said “he would probably know.” Every one was silent. “If only everyone was here…” Palm-Tail whimpered, then he added, “I just can’t believe that I would be there if I didn’t get this wound. And if Leaf and Rose didn’t carry me off” he turned around when Honey groaned, moaning something like “Rose?” then her eyes burst open. “Feather? Rose? Rain? Bark-Fur!?” Flint let out a snort “do I look anything like any of them to you??” “FLINT!” Honey squeled “They-th-wha- what?...” she mumbled. “Calm down, Honey, you’ve been uncontious for… maybe an hour?” Rock said, Honey looked around. “Where am I?” she asked, “in the bunker” Palm-Tail answered. “Why?” Honey asked. “Because the cubs aren’t aloud to be out- can we get to the important stuff? Like how did you escape? Do you know where you were taken? And I’m assuming Feather was with you?” Honey backed away a little before saying “I can only tell you that I don’t know where I was taken-“ “and?” Flint interrupted. Honey walked back a little more, “I can’t say…” she whispered. “Why not?!” Flint pushed. “Be- because I don’t want to re-live it…” Flint’s back feathers ruffled with furry, “ha! YOU say THAT when we have a chance to save the cubs who are still SUFFERING! And you won’t even tell us how you escaped?!!” Flint yelled, Honey squieled and tripped when she walked backward. “Flint!” Flow gasped “I want to know all of that as much as you do, but did it accure to you that she might not know!” Flow turned to Honey “come, why don’t you get some fresh air” then she padded out the den. Honey gave Flint a wounded look before following Flow. Flint snorted, I’ll have to talk to her later, when it’s just her and me.
“I brought mice” Flint said, they had to wait till night to get dinner, and since Flint was all black and dark she was always in charge of dinner. Honey ripped the mice up like she had been starving to death, had she? No. Flint knew she wasn’t, she would have looked a lot more skinnier. “Here, take mine” Flint said, letting the mouse slide acrosed the floor to Honey, she looked at Flint but didn’t hesitate to demolish it just as the other had been. “I’m not hungry anyway…” Flint mumbled to herself, then slumped into her bed of moss.
Flint couldn’t sleep, It was late at night and she was just laying there, still trying to make the perfect plan. Flint was hoping she could find the place, make a distraction, then her and whoever else would rush in and… that’s where she was stuck. She didn’t know what to do after that, and Honey wouldn’t tell them were the ‘place’ was. She lay there motionless for a while until she heard moving, someone got up, looked around the room, and left the bunker, but Flint saw a glimpse of honey colored fur. Honey. This is my chance! Flint thought as she exited the bunker, then fallowed Honey into the forest.
Flint followed her for a while until Honey stopped, she was waiting for something, or someone. “Alright, what’ya got” a whispery voice said from above, “all I know is that the cubs are on lock down, I promise that’s all I know!” Honey replied, looking in all directions. A creature jumped down from a tree, it stretched its bat-like wings. A dragon!? She’s betraying her kind?! Flint though, furiously. She knew that type of dragon, it was a Shadow-Hunter, they are hostile at night, and are about the size of a cub, because of their small size they normally hunt in packs. “That’s all you got?! And I already knew that!” the dragon snarled, Honey whimpered, “wait, someone’s here… you were fallowed!?” the dragon yelled. With out thinking Flint jumped out of the bush and onto the dragon, he let out a furious roar before scratching Flint in the wing. Flint tumbled off the dragons back and landed on her wounded wing, she clenched her jaw and the dragon set his claw on her throat, he had clearly been trained to kill anyone who apposed him, and she was going to be next. Just then lots of gryphons burst out of the fulliage, they were all black and looked just like flint but some more differently. The dragon hissed, “don’t get any closer or this cub will meet her end!” he yelled griping Flints throat tighter, she struggled to get air. “We have you surrounded! Give up!” one of the gryphons commanded, the dragon grunted as one of the gryphons hit him with their tail, knocking him off Flint, and pulled Flint behind her. Then Flint recognized something about the gryphon, Flint groaned as she realized what it was, it was Night-Tail, her mother.
